Welcome to mindthemovementgap

At mtmg, I want to keep it simple. We are  aiming to reconnect with the body.

Our bodies carry complex felt stories of excitement, euphoria, grief, joy and stress. Movement is proven to help you meet with parts of you that lay dormant or unexpressed.

Here you can expect dance, music, somatic self exploration and space to learn in real time YOUR individual body's cues and curiosities.

No longer falling through the gap of sedentary lifestyles that block our energy, you'll connect with exercises and experiences to find your unique rhythm  and flow.

Bottom up vs Top down practices

When practiced with intention and guidance, dance and movement are what we call bottom-up healing practices, where we move attention from the mind to the body. An example of a top down practice would be talk therapy, which is cognitive rather than somatic. We combine movement and music to facilitate self-expression and emotional attunement. Movement helps us to learn about our bodies, and music is a tool that meets and supports us at a cellular level.

How can movement improve my health?

There is a growing collective mind-body disconnect in the western world. Movement focuses on the reconnection of mind and body by using somatic and mindfulness practices to reintegrate better relationship to the body and its' senses. It also creates positive, practical results such as improved posture, mental clarity and relief of bodily tension.

What can I expect from a movement session?

During a movement session you can expect to experiment with techniques to help restore mobility, release stress and tension, attune to bodily sensations and enhance overall well-being in an enjoyable and restorative way. Practices built on trying to fix the mind or body can leave us feeling disempowered; those which encourage us to cultivate an understanding to our body are more likely to help us also rebuild self trust and esteem. You come to mtmg to enjoy movement, rather than endure it!
